Welder Fabricator Apprentice Job Purpose

Undertaking an apprenticeship where the candidate will learn welding and fabricating sheet metal and structural metal work from a variety of materials.

Welder Fabricator Apprentice Job Duties

  • Reading manufacturing drawings
  • Welding and Fabricating of metal products (including laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring and welding)
  • Using many metal work hand tools and power tools
  • Inspecting work – ensuring welds and fabrication meets standards
  • Inspecting equipment – ensuring equipment is safe and fit for purpose
  • Working safely
  • Attending recognised NVQ, City and Guilds course to support practical learning
  • Meeting performance targets

Welder Fabricator Apprentice Skills and Qualifications

Some (or all) of the following (although training will be given to the right candidate)

  • Enrolled on (or planning to enroll on) relevant course e.g. NVQ, City and Guilds.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of some (or all) of the following: pattern development, trigonometry, measuring, bending, rolling, forming, fitting, and cutting.
  • Ability to read manufacturing drawings and recognise specifications and welding symbols.
  • Knowledge of industry safety practices
  • Analytical mind and enjoys working with your hands
  • Can provide own hand tools (power tools are provided by us)

Welder Fabricator Assistant Supervisor – Job Vacancy

Welder Fabricator Assistant Supervisor Job Purpose

Welding and fabricating sheet metal and structural metal work from a variety of materials. Supporting the Supervisor in managing staff and workloads. Building relationships with customers, management and team members by getting the job done to a high standard and to timescale.

Welder Fabricator Assistant Supervisor Job Duties

  • Reading manufacturing drawings
  • Welding and Fabricating of metal products (including laying out, cutting, fitting, measuring and welding)
  • Using many metal work hand tools and power tools
  • Inspecting work – ensuring welds and fabrication meets standards
  • Inspecting equipment – ensuring equipment is safe and fit for purpose
  • Working safely
  • Supervision of other team members’ performance as above
  • Planning and organising workloads and resources

Welder Fabricator Assistant Supervisor Skills and Qualifications

  • Completed approved apprenticeship or training in sheet metal work or similar (may also suit workers from automotive or plumbing background – training will be given to the right candidate).
  • Relevant NVQ, City and Guilds etc.
  • Ability to demonstrate knowledge of some (or all) of the following: pattern development, trigonometry, measuring, bending, rolling, forming, fitting, and cutting.
  • Ability to read manufacturing drawings and recognise specifications and welding symbols.
  • Knowledge of industry safety practices
  • Analytical mind and enjoys working with your hands
  • Can provide own hand tools (power tools are provided by us)

Advantageous skills

  • Knowledge of specific welding processes such as TIG, MIG and ARC.
  • Ability to use heavy machinery such as forklifts and cranes.
  • Management experience eg allocating staff and resources, quality inspections, supervising staff and sub-contractors, health and safety compliance, progress reporting, ordering of materials, liaising with management and customers.

Manufacturing Estimator – Job Vacancy

Manufacturing Estimator Job Purpose

Researching new clients and upcoming projects. Establishing client requirements and provide detailed estimates for projects including cost and work time estimates. Building relationships with clients and negotiating orders primarily within the Ventilation systems, Structural Steelwork and general metal fabrications industry.

Manufacturing Estimator Job Duties

  • Prepare cost budgets and cost estimates for new contracts
  • Adhere to company standards and guidelines when analysing and providing estimations; focus on maximising profit and customer satisfaction, while minimising any potential risks to the company
  • Prepare detailed, well-written proposals for each client, adhering to client guidelines while offering competitive and comprehensive cost estimates, and including supplementary documentation
  • Maintain relationships with existing clients keeping a sales-minded attitude, and seek out and build relationships with new clients
  • Work with contracts manager and design team to help with development, innovation, and creativity on client projects
  • Keep detailed records of all estimation documentation, including site assessments and contract terms; update any existing contracts immediately upon agreement of new terms with client
  • Prepare and submit financial documents
  • Balance multiple proposals and estimations at once, ensuring each reaches the client by the deadline
  • Liaise with other company departments to maintain business development and continuously innovate new profitable outcomes
